The Aggtelek National Park is a breathtaking view of the flora and fauna indigenous to the region and is a perfect display of natural Slovakia in its entire splendor.
The Slovak Karst caves contain as many as 44 caves and consist of twelve show caves. The caves are unlike any other in Europe and have gained worldwide appeal. In fact, the twelve show caves have been deemed as national monuments.
Another must see is the Tokaj Wine Region. This area has been used for centuries for cultivating grapes and wine growing. In fact, the area has a tremendous history of wine growing, dating back to three thousand years B.C. It is a hot spot for archaeological studies as well. However, in modern days, the region is known for creating Tokaj Wine. The wine is made from botrytis Grapes that are over ripe and extremely sweet. The area is known for having a climate that is ideal for wine growing.
You will also be impressed with the ancient art that adorns the feudal churches in the southern area of Slovakia. Most notable are the Germer and Abov churches. These churches exhibit some of the most exquisite medieval mural paintings.
