First on the list, is the Cathedral of St. Sophia. Built between the years 1045 and 1052, the architectural design is jaw dropping. You will stand in awe as the gorgeously ornamented bell tower overlooks the city. The domes of the Cathedral are stunning as they are an emerald green crowned with golden crosses. Inside, is a magnificent display of ancient artwork as intricately detailed mosaics, dating back to the 11th century, decorate the interior. The magnificent display of frescoes and mosaics were restored in the 18th century, and today, the Cathedral of St. Sophia is a national museum.
The next city that should be visited is L’viv. The most amazing and stunning feature of L’viv, is that the city remains a virtually untouched medieval city. One glance at this city and you will forget what year you are living in. The city’s architecture is predominantly Baroque, and there is a strong influence of both Italian and Roman style. L’viv has easy access to some of the Ukraine’s other main cities, with transportation provided by train. However, you will find that an afternoon stroll through L’viv is a wonderfully relaxing experience, as no other Ukraine story is as favorable to walking as L’viv is.
